Abstract

The study investigates the landslide susceptibility of the Seulawah Agam road section (KM 75-86) in Aceh Province, Indonesia, a region characterized by steep slopes, high rainfall intensity, and active geological structures. The multichannel analysis of surface waves method was employed to characterize the subsurface layers and determine their geotechnical properties. This research consists of three multichannel analyses of surface waves survey lines with a spacing of geophones of 3 m. The results, combined with borehole data, revealed the presence of weak layers, primarily composed of clay and sandy gravel, with low shear wave velocities (Vs < 200 m/s) and low bearing capacity <200 KN/m2. These layers, particularly those with N-SPT values less than 40, are highly susceptible to failure during periods of heavy rainfall. The findings of this research provide valuable insights into the factors controlling landslide occurrence in the region. These insights can be used to develop effective mitigation measures, such as slope stabilization techniques and an early warning system, to reduce the risk of future landslides and protect infrastructure and human life.
