Aim and scope
The Iraqi Geological Journal (IGJ) is an open access, peer-reviewed scientific and indexed journal, issued twice a year by the publisher, the Union of Iraqi Geologists (UIG). It has founded in 1968 as the Journal of the Geological Society of Iraq, later in 1990 had been nominated the Iraqi Geological Journal. The Journal scope is concerned with original unpublished scientific papers covering all branches of geology and related topics. Although the Journal has a particular interest in publishing local studies which have conclusions of interest, this publication is expanding its breadth of coverage to an international scope. Coverage includes such topics as water resources (hydrology and hydrogeology), petrology, mineralogy, geochemistry, ore deposits, petroleum geology, tectonics, paleontology, stratigraphy, sedimentology, geophysics, and environmental sciences. it publishes biyearly with twelve sections of rigorous and original contributions. It is indexed by Scopus and still ongoing since 2016, with siteScore https://www.scopus.com/sourceid/21100909458. The journal accepts manuscripts submitted in English Language only, and the authors must ensure that the article has not been published or submitted for publication anywhere else in any format, and that there are no ethical concerns with the content or data collection. All manuscripts are reviewed by at least two referees, who are known scholars in their fields.
